Concerning School Prayer

61

By John Cain

Look at what has happened on our school campuses since prayer in school was abolished. When I was growing up, all the problems in schools didnt exist compared with todays society. I want to share something with you that I seen years ago in a cartoon style sketch.

Imagine that you are standing across the street of a publc school and the school is in your background. The school looks shabby, with broken windows. A big tall chain link fence surrounds the school. In the school yard is trash and weeds with various students grouped up in various places. Some boys are selling drugs while some are taking them. Another group of boys are comparing weapons such as guns and knives. In the school yard there are several fights. A young girl is seen fighting off a gang of boys trying to molest her. Students are breaking windows and cursing the teachers.

In your foreground is a street running in front of the school. Two are standing in the street talking. One is a parent and the other figure is God.

The parent asked God, " Why dont you do something?"

And God said, " I would, but they wont let me in there any more."

Great hub John and so true. This is the sad reality of our world today. There is NO control, not by teachers. Not by parents and if anybody else touches them to stop these physical assaults on others YOU get sued. Great eye opener.

Love and hugs.

Unfortunately, what you wrote is true. We, as a nation, have pushed God out of our lives and told Him to leave us to our own devices.

Thank you for sharing this.

I have seen that cartoon.Right on. I heartily agree with your writings in this hub.

I'm a retiring(paperwork is not complete) elementary teacher. I have been so blessed with being allowed to have prayer in public schools. At my last school, our principal would open with the pledge, a four or five sentence devotion, and a prayer. EVERY DAY. If he was absent our coach did the same routine. At lunch we lined up and said the school lunch prayer before leaving our classroom.I live in an area that is referred to a the Bible Belt, maybe that's the reason, I don't know

Last year during a tornado warning at our school, we teachers in the hall knelt and prayed in front of our students. It calmed them, and not even a broken window occured!.

It's a shame, isn't it? Political correctness could tranform our society into a shadow of its former self. Kinda reminds me of "War of the worlds" What the most powerful forces on the planet couldn't do. microbes did. What the most powerful forces can't accomplish, political correctness is doing.

John I love this story. Kinda makes one wonder though, just how much is God going to take before he gets ticked off enough to say enough is enough and start putting things his way again, or just call the good ones to his side, if any still exist and then wipe out the evil ones.

Brother Dave.

EXACTLY! We put God out and He is not One to force His way back in. Thus, we suffer the consequences. Sad isn't it?

Bless you!

Forever His,

bayoulady: That was a good thing you done while having a tornado. The prayer gave the children courage and when it was over and they were not harmed, it gave the faith in the Lord. You may never know, but some of them children will live for Christ, because of the faith that the teacher showed in Him. God bless you.

fred: you are correct. The simple things leave men cofounded. Man always look deep for answers and its the simpliest thing that works. God bless you.

Sir: Very true words. Man is looking for a better way, instead of the only way. God bless you.

Dave: You could be correct. Man wants God to conform with his rules instead of following His. God bless you.

Rev: You are so right sister. I know you have seen the picture of Jesus knocking on a door. There is no handle on His side of it. Man has to open it up to Him, and they are slamming it shut. God bless you sister.

John Cain, Very good thought provoking example! No wonder they are having all this trouble within the educational system...

We must remind our children and grandchildren that they can take prayer out of school but not out of them! They have a right to still pray at shool or anywhere else! When praying at school they can pray silently during class... They can pray out loud between classes and anytime when it does not disrupt the class... It is important for them to Know their rights! They can even have a Bible Study!

Thank you for sharing! In His Love, Peace & Blessings!

Nicely done. I remember some of the impact that this controversy caused back then.

Who are these people that get to decided what is PC and what is not acceptable? What credentials do they have that they get to decide morals and regulate thoughts for all of us?

Dr: You are so right. Even the ones that crucified Him will be judged by Him instead of being the judges themselves. God bless you.

Wow Thank You. This is a moving hub. I loved it. Loved it. What and analogy. I am Linking this baby out there John. So right and true. Your words hit the nail on the head.

God will work through the students. No one can steal Him away from the heart. NO ONE NOT EVER. If the kiddo goes to school knowing Christ he can touch many. If he does not know Jesus let us pray He will find Him through a child's light in school. Praise God. Let the light shine in and on the kids In the name of Jesus Christ. Glory to God.

Love you brother.
